Come join the fun, and Ride The Wind!
On Saturday, February 16, snowmobilers from all over Maine and New England will descend on Washington County to ride their sleds along a series of well-groomed trails for the inaugural Ride The Wind snowmobile ride-in and lunch.
Ride The Wind is a proposed snowmobile trail that would connect all of Maine’s wind power projects. When completed, the trail would connect 10 wind farms and stretch roughly 590 miles across the state of Maine, from the Kibby Wind project in Franklin County to the Mars Hill wind project in Aroostook County.
Supporters of this proposed trail say creating this connection of snowmobile trails will benefit tourism, economic development and recreational opportunities along the proposed trail route.
Riders and their guests will gather at one of four staging areas before sledding to First Wind’s Stetson Mountain Operations Center, near Danforth, Maine for a complimentary lunch and more activities.
Registration is free, but you must register in advance. Space is limited, and you can register online. For more information or to register for the event, please visit http://ridethewind2013.com
